Message Entitled: ”The Call To Leadership”

Intro: Now where do people go to learn leadership? Of course the answer to that question today is that they search in many places. Like some would examine the world of politics. Some have sought models in the entertainment industry. Many has looked to the world of business. And some people seem to look to successful CEOs, management consultant, and theoreticians with Ph.D.s to learn all about leadership. But the truth is, the best source of leadership teaching today is the same as it has always been for thousands of years. If you want to learn leadership, just go to the greatest Book on leadership ever written called- The Holy Bible.

As you begin to open and read the written Word of God, the tool that has the potential to change your life, and the course of your development as, a spiritual leader! It is the written Word of God, that draws out the leadership principles that have been woven into it by the One who invented leadership. Who can possibly teach us more about leadership than God Himself?

I. The Crying Need of the Church Today Is Leadership

A. The most critical problem facing the church today is the leadership vacuum that grew during the twentieth century. A church expert and statistician once asserts, that “Leadership remains one of the glaring needs of the church.

B. The people are often willing to follow God’s vision, but too frequently they have no exposer to either vision or true leadership.” Several years ago this statistician by the name of George Barna penned some sobering conclusions based on his research: “After years of digging into the world around me, I have reached several conclusions regarding the future of the Christian church in America. The central conclusion is that the American church is dying due to the lack of strong Holy Ghost filled leaders.

C. In this time of unprecedented opportunity and plentiful resources, the church is actually losing influence. The primary reason is the lack of leadership…. A Holy Ghost filled Preacher, does make a difference in the church. Jesus Christ, Left the church on earth to do the work that has eternal impact. If the church isn’t well led then the bride of Christ suffers, and she will not be able to fulfill her mission for this generation.

II. God Himself calls Us to Leadership

A. God is the ultimate leader, and He calls every believer to lead others. God could have arranged His creation any number of ways . He chose to create human beings who posses spirits and the capacity to relate to Him and follow to follow Him, yet who are not forced to do so. When man kind fell into sin, God could have easily executed a plan of redemption that did not include sinful people in the process.

B. But he has called us to lead others as we follow Him. God makes that clear from the beginning: “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 (K.J.V.)

C. It has been said that a nation rises and falls on its leaders. By this statement, it is meant that, more than anything else, the leadership of any group or organization will determine its success or failure. You can see the impact of leadership frequently in the Holy Bible. When a king follows the Word of God (obeys) the nation will rise. And when the king deviates from the Word of God (disobeys) the nation will fall. The scripture also teaches that; Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 (K.J.V.)

Note; Vision—having well-formed goals—is an absolute necessity to anybody who is going anywhere. Vision in this verse can be translated “revelation,” which in turn means “divine guidance.” If one would recast this proverb into modern English, it would read something like this: “Without divine guidance, people cast off restraint.”

III. The Call to Leadership

A. The call to leadership is a consistent pattern in the Holy Bible. When God decides to raise up a nation of His own, He didn’t call upon the masses. He called out one leader named Abraham. When God wanted to deliver His people out of Egypt, He did not guide them as a group.

B. God had chosen and raised up a leader named Moses, for the task. When it came the time for Israel to enter and cross into the promise land they’ve followed one man named Joshua.

C. Each time God desires to do something great, He calls a leader to step forward. As today God is still calling people to step up to the plate to take a stand for His purpose.

Conclusion 

In the text again Jesus said in Mark 1:17  And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. Then in John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. And in Proverbs 8:12-36  I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. 13. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. 14. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. 15. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. 16. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. 17. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. 18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. 19. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. 20. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: 21. That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. 22. The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 23. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 24. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. 25. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: 26. While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 27. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: 28. When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: 29. When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: 30. Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; 31. Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men. 32. Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. 33. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. 34. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. 35. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. 36. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

"The True Religion"

Text: James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Intro; The bible informs us that man was created in the image of God. The bible also mentions that when the man God created fell into sin, he did not entirely ceased to be the image bearer of the Most High.

The seed of religion is still present in all men, though their sinful nature constantly react against it.

Missionaries from all around the globe testify to the presence of religion in some form or another among all nations and tribes of the earth.

For it is one of the most greatest blessings of mankind, though many are they that denounce it as a curse. Not only does it touch the deepest springs of a man’s life, but it also controls his thoughts and feelings and his desires.

I. But just what is religion?

a. It is only by the study of The Word of God that we can learn to know the true nature of religion. Thus, according to the Philologist Max Muller, the root of the English word “religion” derives from a Latin word “religio”.  ”Whaaat, a Latin word in the bible?” Yes! And not from any word that is found in the original Hebrew or Greek manuscripts. In Galatians 1:13-14 reads For ye have heard of my conversation in times past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

b. The Old Testament defines religion as the fear of The Lord. Now, this fear is not a feeling of dread, but of reverent regard for God akin to awe, coupled with love and confidence. This was the response of the Old Testament believers to the revelation of the Law which was given by Moses on God’ behalf.

c. In the New Testament religion is a response to the gospel rather than to the law, and assumes the form of faith and godliness or holiness. In light of the Scriptures it teaches to understand that religion is a relationship which man stands to God, a relationship which man is conscious of the absolute Majesty and infinite Power of God. Its mans understanding of his own utter insignificance and absolute helplessness. This word religion can also be defined as a conscious and voluntary relationship with his Creator, which in terms expresses himself in a grateful worship and loving service. This manner of this religious worship and service is not left to the arbitrary will of man, but is determined of God himself.

II. The Seat of Religion

a. As one writer mentioned that, there are several wrong ways to view respecting the seat of religion in man. Some think of religion primarily as a sort of knowledge and try to locate it in the intellect. Some people regard it as a kind of immediate feeling of God. These are they that try to find the seat of religion in the fleshly feelings. Others up hold that it consist most of all in moral activity and refers it to the will. And all these views are one-sided and are contrary to the Scriptures in fact, teaches us that religion is a matter of the heart!!!

b. For the heart (the mind) is the central organ of the soul! Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also. Religion involves the whole man, his intellect, his emotions, and his moral life. This is the only view that does justice to the true nature of religion.

III. The Origin of Religion

a. There was a particular attention that was devoted during the last fifty years to the problem of the origin of religion. Their repetitive attempts were made to give a natural explanation of religions origin, and were unsuccessful. Some spoke of it as an invention of cunning and deceptive priests, who would regard it as an easy source of revenue and now this explanation is entirely discredited now. And others held that it began with the worship of lifeless objects, or with the worship of spirits like the spirits of forefathers.

b. Above and beyond there is no explanation, since the question remains, how did people ever hit upon this idea of worshiping of lifeless or living objects? Yet, still others were of the opinion that religion originated in nature-worship, in that the worship of the marvels and powers of nature, even in the wide-spread practices of magic.

c. Although these theories do not explain any more than the others how none-religious man ever became religious. They all start out with a man who is already religious by heart. They just need the put it in the right perspective, Amen!

conclusion; The bible gives the only reliable source of the account of the Origin of Religion.

It informs us of the existence of the One True God, the only object of worship, worthy of a true religious worship in Spirit and in TRUTH! Moreover, the bible tells us the assurance that God, whom man could never discover with his natural intellectual powers, revealed Himself to us in nature and especially in His Divine WORD. He demands the worship and service of man through Jesus Christ, which is well pleasing to God. The Scriptures also teach us that God created man in His own image and thus endowed man with the capacity to understand to respond to this revelation and engendered in him a natural urge to seek communion with his CREATOR and to glorify Him. For this is “The True Religion” Thank You Jesus, Amen!

"Achieving the Goal"

Luke 18:31

Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

"Achieving the Goal"

Jesus Christ, was given a mission commissioned of God to Achieve! Jesus pressed on to achieving the goal, right from the start! He destined himself to accomplish his task for his Father, and for you! Jesus, Achieved the goal! And that is to be crucified and die on the cross of Calvary and to be sent to the heart of the earth called hell to pay the price for sin, just for you! God loves you! Jesus said to his disciples, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem," and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

This word achieving present participle of a·chieve (Verb)

1. Reach or attain (a desired objective, level, or result) by effort, skill, or courage: "he achieved his ambition to become, etc"; "people striving to achieve". 2. Accomplish or bring about.

In Oswald Chambers daily devotional for 23rd of the month, is this: In the natural life our ambitions alter as we develop; in the Christian life the goal is given at the beginning, the beginning and the end are the same, viz., Our Lord Himself. We start with Christ and we end with Him - "until we all attain to the stature of the manhood of Christ Jesus," not to our idea of what the Christian life should be. The aim of the missionary is to do God's will, not to be useful, not to win the heathen; he is useful and he does win the heathen, but that is not his aim. His aim is to do the will of his Lord.

In Our Lord's life Jerusalem was the place where He reached the climax of His Father's will upon the Cross, and unless we go with Jesus there we will have no companionship with Him. Nothing ever discouraged Our Lord on His way to Jerusalem. He never hurried through certain villages where He was persecuted, or lingered in others where He was blessed. Neither gratitude nor ingratitude turned Our Lord one hair's breadth away from His purpose to go up to Jerusalem.

 "The disciple is not above his Master." The same things will happen to us on our way to our Jerusalem. There will be the works of God manifested through us, people will get blessed, and one or two will show gratitude and the rest will show gross ingratitude, but nothing must deflect us from going up to our Jerusalem.

"There they crucified Him." That is what happened when Our Lord reached Jerusalem, and that happening is the gateway to our salvation. The saints do not end in crucifixion: by the Lord's grace they end in glory. In the meantime our watchword is - I, too, go up to Jerusalem. "God cares about you!"

In John 19:30 it said; When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Notice in this scripture; This was Jesus himself saying "It is finished." Jesus had signified that he has "Achieved the Goal." The Good News is Jesus Christ is the gateway to our salvation. Jesus with his shed blood paid the price for sin which I-Corinthians 6:20 says; For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.  Jesus brought us back to God! Thank you Jesus for all you have accomplished  for us. Praise and glorify Jesus Christ! I leave you now with this song of thanks giving unto Him the author and finisher of your faith;

"Let it Go"

“What a simple, down to earth, right to the heart of the message.” “Let it Go!” Yes, There are people that walk away from you, says T. D. Jakes; and hear me when I tell you this!

And he went on to say;

When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don’t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone.

The Bible says that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us.

When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

I John 2:19 (K. J. V.)

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can’t make them stay. Let them go. And it doesn’t mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you’ve got to know when people’s part in your story is over so that you don’t keep trying to raise the dead..You’ve got to know when it’s dead. You’ve got to know when it’s over.

Let me tell you something.. . I’ve got the gift of good-bye. It’s the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye.. . It’s not that I’m hateful, it’s that I’m faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He’ll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don’t need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go.

If you are holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to… LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to past hurts and pains… LET IT GO!!!

If someone can’t treat you right, love you back, and see your worth… LET IT GO!!!

If someone has angered you … LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge… LET IT GO!!!

If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction… LET IT GO!!!

If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents …LET IT GO!!!

If you have a bad attitude… LET IT GO!!!

If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better… LET IT GO!!!

If you’re stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him… LET IT GO!!!

If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship… LET IT GO!!

If you keep trying to help someone who won’t even try to help themselves… LET IT GO!!!

If you’re feeling depressed and stressed… LET IT GO!!!

If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying ‘take your hands off of it,’ then you need to… LET IT GO!!!

Special Post Concerning; "The Mojave Memorial Cross"

The Mojave Memorial Cross is a cross formerly on public land in the Mojave desert that was at the center of the Salazar v. Buono legal case before the U.S. Supreme Court.^[1][2][3] The original cross was erected in 1934 to honor those killed in war.^[4] The cross has been maintained by volunteers^[5] and was reconstructed after being destroyed.^[5] It was boarded up after lower court rulings declared it illegal because of separation of church and state constitutional concerns.

On April 28, 2010, the US Supreme Court ruled on Salazar v. Buono in a 5-4 decision that the cross may stay. The high court ruled there was no violation of the separation of church and state when Congress transferred the land surrounding the cross to a veteran's group.^[6] Writing for the majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote, "The goal of avoiding governmental endorsement [of religion] does not require eradication of all religious symbols in the public realm".^[7]

As of May 10, 2010, the cross is no longer in place atop Sunrise Rock. It was stolen on the night of May 9–10, 2010.^[8][9][10] National Park Service spokeswoman Linda Slater said a $125,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thieves. The VFW promised that the memorial will be rebuilt."This was a legal fight that a vandal just made personal to 50 million veterans, military personnel and their families," said National Commander Thomas J. Tradewell.^[11]

This is a friend of mind and a co-worker named Ricky Lee. It's been about four to five years knowing and working with him. He sent me this email and it inspired me to post it on this site and there is another site I want to use it at but I am praying about that first anyhow, here with his permission below is what it said;

I was going through some of my music today. I like a pretty versatile mix and I found a song by George Strait I thought you'd like to hear. In case you don't know of him... he's a country western singer that has put out some pretty good songs. Country western is an interesting style of music in large part.... because the songs tell a story. A lot of the music I enjoy... especially country western.... sings of something I relate to in one way or another. Sometimes these songs sing of God and praise Him also. I think it's just another good way to help people know and understand His existence. I don't think I ever told you but... as you know... I have two daughters... 25 & 26. They were both born a full 3 months premature and in 1984 and 1985 when they were born it was even more serious than it is today. I was by my wife's side for almost 24 hours straight. The whole experience was extremely stressful... all of the doctors making sure they explained to us fully, the seriousness of the situation...so as not to get our hopes up. If I remember correctly their estimates of survival for our baby were less than 30%.

My wife's water had broken much too early and she was in Tacoma General hospital and the doctors hoped that her body would mend it's self enough to allow the baby to stay until close to full term. It wasn't to be but during that almost 24 hours... at some point in the day.... I was taken on a mandatory tour of the premature intensive care ward. They wanted parents to see it so they would understand that if there was any hope for their baby... it was here... in this state of the art facility.

I knew and understood the potentially dire consequences of a birth so premature. Death was the good news... there were many extreme physical handicaps that could, and many times did, befall these premature babies.... leaving them in a life long physically and/or mentally handicapped condition.

Sometime in the early hours of the morning on June 7th the time suddenly came.... the baby was coming whether we liked it or not.

My wife was suddenly the priority and I was not... and I understood that. They pushed me out of the way and brought in a gurney for a high level code transport to the operating room. They only had a short time to allow this baby to live.... if it was to be. Suddenly they were all gone... my wife.... the nurses that had tended to her and the doctors.... and I was alone.

I had been up since 3 a.m. the morning before and with all the stress.... I felt very, very alone. I walked from the room where my wife had been to a waiting room just outside her room. It was there that the seriousness of the whole day and what was to come hit me. I had really never felt anything like this before and I began to pray. As I talked to God I told him that I had never really ever asked him for much.... at least not for me... maybe for others but not for me. This time was different... I asked him for a small favor. I asked him that if it was within his plans to take my child to please do it tonight. I told him this part was for me and explained that I didn't want to know this child only to have it taken from me so soon after.

Suddenly a nurse appeared and asked me if I was the father and I said yes. In a whirlwind of activity she was helping me to put on protective clothing over my own cloths. A shirt, pants, something like a doctors cap and covers for my shoes and she literally dragged me into the operating room.

Within a few short minutes the baby arrived and the first marvel was that she cried. A lot of the time babies this premature don't have the lung capacity to be able to cry but hers was a loud healthy cry... and like that they whisked her away to do all the necessary tests to make sure she was all there. Within an hour I was meeting.. for the first time.... my new baby girl... which we named Tashina. The history of her name is Native American... for Ta-she-na.

The rest... as they say... is history and she grew into a healthy girl... which wasn't without some problems in the beginning. It took her lungs 9 years to completely mature.. a process that is normally completed in the 3rd trimester of the pregnancy. She had no immune system for about the same period of time and the first year of her life she was high risk SIDS. 

This stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, commonly known as crib death. For that first year I didn't sleep but I never forgot the favor I asked of God that dark, hopeless night. I knew it was ultimately His decision but I also felt as if He had heard me... and for that I will always be thankful.

The reason I talked of country western and George Strait in the beginning was to give you a perspective of what the song that I'm sending in this email... means to me and why.

It's called "I saw God today" by none other than.... George Strait. As you listen to the words you can hear my story in it. I think you'll like it.
